On 25 May 2024, the Head of Kinondoni District, Hon. Saad Mtambule, launched a project for a domestic sewage treatment system costing 124 billion shillings, which is managed by DAWASA.

The system has commenced in Kinondoni District in the areas of Mbezi Beach, Kawe, Wazo and Kunduchi.
